Family Fitness

Some of you have been thinking for some time about persuading your family to exercise together. First of all you need to sit down and talk about the different things you all like to do. Give everyone a turn to come up with a week’s worth of activities. Many studies have shown that if you exercise for 30 consecutive days it becomes a habit. So once you all get past the first month it will become routine and part of your lifestyle. Remember to keep it fun and give everyone a chance to participate in choosing different things to do. Everyone wants to have a say. No one likes to be told over and over what to do!

One of the most favourite exercises is dancing. Everyone is able to select their favourite music and you’ll all have a chance to dance to it. It’s also fun for the younger generation to watch older ones dance.

Another favourite exercise is swimming. If you have a YMCA, community center, or if your school is lucky enough to have a pool ask if you can use it for practising. You can also use your creativity in the pool with different types of swimming, races, or water ballet. Another option if you have the pool to yourselves is to arrange `his and hers` swimming competitions.

One great game the whole family can play is Twister, plus it has the added advantage of stretching all your muscles. Make sure you play enough games to warm up those muscles (4-8 games). Since weather is one of the main reasons why many families around the country don’t go out for walks, it’s worth going to the Mall. Walk at a good brisk pace for at least 20-30 minutes, or less if you feel you’re becoming short of breath. When you are there you can reward yourself with some window shopping. If the Mall isn’t to your taste, pick another indoor facility where you can do some brisk walking.

Many people keep track of their steps with pedometers. They are inexpensive and people love to know how many steps they’ve taken in a day. Get one for everyone in your family and see who walks the most steps in a week. Whoever wins will be allowed to decide on the menu for a week and doesn’t have to do any cleaning or other chores. Or you could have prizes to give away if you prefer.

Those of you who enjoy weight training and circuit training could try something like circuit training in your home. You could start with stretching; and then move to running up and down the stairs, following with some floor exercises, such as sit ups, side bends and push ups. If you have some type of equipment, like a treadmill, bicycle, Gazelle or something along these lines you could also include that in the circuit. Do each activity for a couple of minutes or one repetition and then move to the next “station”. Think about placing each activity in a different room and walk briskly or jog to each “station”.

All these activities, shared by the family, can be great fun and can often lead to even more activities. The benefits, a healthy and happy family, are there for all to see.

Ever Wonder How Fast To Train Or Work With Your Dog?

May 1st, 2008 by admin

I noticed the other day, while working with a new German Shepherd dog-mix I adopted from a local animal shelter–how fast and intense you must work with your dog, during the “reinforcement” phase.

Your dog goes through three general phases of learning:

1. “The Learning phase”: This is when the dog learns to understand what a command means. You use very little correction at this phase, and may use toys, balls or food to motivate (not bribe!) the dog into doing and understanding what the command means. The problem with most amateur dog trainers is that they feel their dog is trained, once he understands a command and has gone through the “Learning Phase.”

2. “The Reinforcement phase”: Once the dog has learned what the command means, he needs to be “re- taught” the command in a variety of different settings. Because he’ll likely only associate response to the command in the initial setting you’ve trained him in, he needs to “relearn” the command in different types of areas. This happens very quickly. It usually only takes one or two repetitions, and then it “clicks” for the dog. Once you see that it’s “clicked for the dog,” this is when you need to start working very fast, exciting and BRIEF sessions. Your goal is to get the dog to respond to commands very quickly. IF you’re working on the “down” command, then the dog should drop into the down position very quickly–AND THEN IMMEDIATELY GIVE HIM YOUR “RELEASE COMMAND!” Run 5 or 10 steps with the dog, then reissue the command. When you give him the release command, toss a ball, or a piece of food. You should be aiming to teach the dog that training is a big, fun game. A game that he has to respect. But nonetheless, a game the he loves and looks forward to playing with you–in any environment.

Here’s where most new trainers fail: They don’t work the dog fast enough. You need to make your body language fast and exciting to the dog. IF you’re not sweating and huffing and puffing after 5-10 minutes… then you’re not being animated enough. For fastest results, work the dog like this for 3-4 sessions a day and you’ll see dramatic improvement.

3. “The Proofing Phase”: This phase teaches the dog that 100% reliability in every type of environment is absolutely imperative. Make sure your proof your dog in every type of environment that you can imagine. Practice in parks, in field and in parking lots. Practice around other dogs, and cats. And even chickens and goats. One you’ve “proofed” your dog, you can relax in knowing that you can pretty much take your dog anywhere and know that hell listen.

Finding The Right Work From Home Internet Business Opportunity

By Tom Worsley

As the Internet grows and the amount of people using it so does the endless amount of online home business opportunities.

So how does one find the best work from home business opportunities on the Internet today? You could do a search for business opportunities or work from home business opportunities using your favorite search engine such as Google but chances are you will be more confused than when you started. Most web sites listed on Google, (Mine Included) offer a wide range of more than 1 type of work from home Internet business opportunity.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the different types of moneymaking opportunities on the Internet.

1) AFFILIATE PROGRAMS

Affiliate programs can actually be categorized into smaller sub categories but most have products that they are trying to sell via a link that you must put on your own web site. There are exceptions to this. For example SFI one of the affiliate programs I belong to will actually supply you with personalized gateway page’s that you can use to sell their products without actually having to create your own web site. All affiliate programs payout commissions when you actually sell something for them.

2) PAID SURVEYS ONLINE

Paid surveys are actually gaining strength fast on the Internet. They offer their members cash for filling out surveys online from comfort of their own home computer

3) MLM OR NETWORK MARKETING

MLM or network marketing is when you actually recruit other sales people into an organization or down line in order to sell products. This type of marketing has been confused with illegal pyramids in the past. But in actual fact some of the largest marketing organization such as Avon, Tupperware and Amway to name just a few can all be categorized as MLM.

These are just a few of the different types of business opportunities you will find on the Internet. As I mentioned above, These 3 categories can be broken down into smaller sub categories. If you have your own web site chances are you can utilize almost all of the above in some way shape or form and create a truly great multiple steams of income business on the Internet.

Choosing what’s right for your web site is the trick. You need to keep everything on your website relative to the theme of your web site. If you start putting stock and bond opportunities on your Affiliate program or network marketing opportunities web site, chances are it will not fit in properly with the rest of your content.

Finding good quality business opportunities that fit in with the theme of your site that will actually pay you a commission is also key. I don’t know how many business opportunities I have joined in the past that either didn’t fit well on my site or didn’t pay out commissions on a regular basis for products and services I have sold.

The only way to find out if something works is to try it out on your site and test it to see if it works or not. Get rid of the non-productive programs and keep the ones that are working for you.

MY TOP 4 PAYING BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

  1. Strong Future International Marketing Group (SFI)- I have been with SFI for the longest (since 1999) and they have been paying me commissions every month for 4 years and counting.

  1. ClickBank is the online distribution center for over 10,000 digital products and services Products marketplace are promoted through our network of over 100,000 online marketers (affiliates). Each vendor selects an affiliate commission percentage for their products in advance. Affiliates promote the products, and refer interested customers to the vendor’s web site. ClickBank is one of my most productive opportunities today.

  1. Websponsors is an affiliate program that will pay you for both sales and services plus lead supplying programs for other business opportunities.

  1. AffiliateFuel.com provides you with the tools and advertising programs you need to maximize your earnings. We are here to help you generate results.

  1. Build an attractive revenue stream and enhance site content while maintaining brand identity. Why You Should Consider Pet Insurance For Your Family Pet

May 1st, 2008 by admin

If you have ever wonder about the benefits of insuring your family pet, then you may want to consider the following pointers as to why you should consider pet insurance for your family pet:

  • 1 in every 3 family pets will visit a vet this year for treatment
  • 40 percent of all vet fees are caused by ‘unforeseen’ illnesses or accidents
  • less than 15 percent of family pets in the UK are covered by pet insurance
  • the average vet bill for care and attention needed following a road accident involving a cat or dog last year was circa. £750 - £1,000
  • 2 out of every 3 pet owners in the UK have admitted to having gone overdrawn at some time during their lives in order to pay for their pet’s vet bills.

All of these are fairly scary statistics. They’re event more scary when you consider that will a simple family pet insurance policy, paying a minimum premium of somewhere between £25 and £75 (depending on the size of the pet), all of these are totally unnecessary.

If you want to get you pet insured and avoid any of these statistics happening to you, you can choose from:

    Pet Accident Insurance

As the name suggests, with a pet accident insurance you are getting the basic minimum in pet insurance - accident coverage. Under this policy the insurance company will reimburse you for all costs and expenses you incur caused as a result of your pet having been involved in an accident (unfortunately, more often than not, this means a road accident).

    Pet Accident and Illness Insurance

With pet accident and illness insurance you get full coverage insurance; namely, your insurance company will agree to pay for all the costs and expenses incurred as a result of your family pet having suffered any illness or accident.

    Excess Amount

One thing you do need to keep in mind when arranging your family pet insurance is the excess amount. As with all insurance policies, the excess amount is the amount you and the insurance company agree you’ll pay before you are entitled to claim against the insurance policy. While it is always a good idea to set an excess amount that would cover you for any mundane visits to the vet, so as to keep the premium down if nothing else, you don’t want to se the excess too high that you end up having to pay for care and attention you thought would be covered by the pet insurance policy. It is, therefore, advisable that you have a look at some of your more recent vet bills and try and mind a medium between these sums so you have some idea of the excess before you set off arranging your family pet insurance.

Joseph Kenny is the webmaster of the insurance site www.insure121.com/ where you will find information, news and links to the leading providers of pet insurance in the UK.
