General Skills of Compassionate Parenting & Effective Discipline

May 14th, 2008 by admin

Compassionate Parenting provides a secure emotional base from which children carry out their genetic programs to explore and interact with their environments in safety and protection. At the same time, parents develop the protective, nurturing, and compassionate skills that empower them in all areas of life, including work and health. We simply function at our best when we have emotional connections with our children that are strong, flexible, and enjoyable.

Compassion most definitely does not mean letting children get away with bad or selfish behavior. It does not mean that parents should go along with whatever children want. Nor does it mean overindulgence, generosity, or magnanimity. Compassionate parents are able to see beneath the surface of their children’s behavior to get at the deeper motivations. They empower children to control their own behavior by teaching them to regulate their motivations.

Compassionate Parenting is certainly not perfect parenting. The best parents in the world do not go a single day without making some error in what they do or say to their children. Fortunately, kids are extremely resilient when it comes to parental mistakes. A major tenet of the Compassionate Parenting program is that whatever parents say and do matters far less than their emotional motivation. Unless a child is deep into a destructive mode, almost anything a parent says or does in apositive mode will succeed. In fact, experiments show that children perceive even highly critical statements done with positive motivation as caring and encouraging.

Regardless of what mode the child is in, almost nothing the parent says or does in the negative or destructive modes will work. Parents must not match the negative and destructive motivations of their children in kind. Doing so only reinforces them and teaches kids the dangerous lesson that the one with the most power to be negative and destructive wins.

General Skills of Compassionate Parenting
• Listen to your children. Research shows that children in all stages of development complain that their parents yell too much and listen too little.

• As much as possible, let solutions to problems come from the children. As they mature, your job is less to give answers and more and more to ask the questions that lead them to solutions.

• Choose toys that have something beneath the surface to help deepen their interest. Young children cannot sustain interest for long, but they can develop a beginning awareness that interest works better when it runs deeper than the surface.

• Understand that change stimulates emotion. You and your children will have emotional response to change, regardless of the content.

• Take care to respond to positive emotions as well as negative. Otherwise, you set up the habit of using trouble to get attention. Compassionate attention to expressions of interest and enjoyment are opportunities to develop positive emotional response in children and adults.

• Express affection to your children and to other adults in the family.

General Rules of Effective Discipline

Like all human beings, children need discipline to help them function at their best. They actually want discipline. Children who receive little discipline tend to feel unloved, isolated, and unprotected. Many adolescents from undisciplined homes lie to their peers and make up limits that they attribute to neglectful parents.

Children view it as the job of parents to set limits and as their job to oppose them. Compassionate Parents set firm limits about important issues of safety, health, learning, education, and morality and encourage cooperation with the rest.

Many discipline problems rise from some physical discomfort, such as hunger or sleep deprivation. Take care that the child’s physical needs and your own are met. Emotional discomfort caused by nervous energy, anxiety, and disappointment accounts for most the rest. Of course, discipline that increases anxiety, such as yelling or shaming, will only make emotional discomfort worse and produce more of the undesired behavior, at least in the long run.

• Discipline must be implemented with positive parental motivation to protect, nurture, encourage, influence, guide, or cooperate.

• Discipline is a long-term project. Except around safety issues, discipline is never for a single behavior. Rather, it is to give direction for a stream of behaviors over time.

• Stress safety, health, learning, education, and morality as goals that produce pride and empowerment.

• Whenever possible, point out how the long-term best interests of the child are served by cooperation.

• Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want. Give short, clear instructions. Don’t yell.

• Keep the focus on the behavior, not your emotional state. Never discipline in anger.

• Ask questions whenever possible to help children come up with their own motivation to cooperate. The regulation for behavior must be established in the child, not in you as policeman.

• Help children to understand that their behavior is a choice. They always have the power to choose better behavior.

• Help children think through the consequences of their behavior choices, especially the response that their behavior invokes in other people.

Know How + Know Who = Networking Success

May 14th, 2008 by admin

With all of the technology available today, why is personal networking still the key to being successful? While you can send tons of direct mail, e-mail instantly and advertise everywhere, the main reason most people do business with each other is that they know each other and have developed a successful business relationship that was built on rapport, responsibility and respect.

This type of relationship does not usually happen just by meeting once and exchanging business cards. It takes time to get to know what each person has to offer, and even more importantly, to learn what you can offer them. Many people forget that networking is a quid pro quo arrangement. In order to get, you have to give.

It used to be surprising when a colleague would say that they don’t go to networking functions anymore because they never got anything out of it. Now I realize that most often, they did not give much either.

What can you “give” at a networking function? Use your imagination, and, of course, your connections. You’ll be surprised how often you can help someone out just by listening to them, because they will usually tell you about a problem they are having.

Your resulting referral or suggestion may not get you business today, but the more often you can help someone solve a problem, the more often they think of you and want to return the favor. People who are successful at networking actually enjoy giving to others, and they build invaluable contacts in the process.

People who can connect other people are often perceived as powerful-and they are the ones who are willing to search through their personal contact list, pick up the phone and make introductions, ask for help or offer help. Usually these “connectors” have a personal contact base that is diverse, plentiful and like-minded.

The best way to build your base of contacts is to attend networking events and listen to those you meet. Ask them about their business and what are good clients or prospects for them. Take the time to think about what they are saying, and ask for a business card. Maybe even jot a note on the card about what they do and who you know that may be a good referral for them.

If you spend the next networking event finding out about other people and their business, you will teach yourself how to be a great resource for others. Why go to all of this effort? Why work hard to give leads and referrals to others? Remember, successful networking is reciprocal. You will get more if you give more.

You can actually enjoy networking events when you get to know and like the people you meet. If you viewed the next networking mixer as a chance to meet interesting people, make a new friend, visit with some old friends, learn something new, and maybe increase your income, wouldn’t you have good reasons to climb out of your personal comfort zone and attend?

Where can you go to meet business people and practice your networking skills? You have many opportunities at networking functions sponsored by your local Chamber of Commerce, Lion’s Club, the Rotary, National Association of Women Business Owners (men are welcome too!) and other professional groups. Most organizations welcome visitors at every meeting, mixer or breakfast. It is not necessary to join every group to attend their functions.

Sportsbooks: Keep your money safe!

May 14th, 2008 by admin

Criminals nowadays are attuned with the times. Instead of stealing manually, which results in them being imprisoned with just a blink of an eye, criminals have gone on to cyberspace.

“Many reports on television depicting such dastardly act or news reports detailing such violent crimes have been rampant. And yet, there are no signs of them stopping or no way of them being caught since they could very well disguise themselves online”. (Playsportal.net).

One such act that criminals breed is through online gambling, particularly in gambling through the offshore sportsbook. Potential gamblers need to submit their credit card numbers and social security numbers to start playing online, and this is the opportunity that criminals are waiting. By knowing credit card numbers and social security numbers, criminals can just glide in online, try to find out these numbers by hacking and then stealing.

Stealing comes in several forms. Criminals can steal by purchasing products online and then crediting them to the credit card holder. Or they can just purchase expensive products on the net and use the credit card number of the prospective gambler. Another is that they can just use the credit card numbers of potential gamblers online, and transfer the money to the bank account of criminals. And when money is involved, be sure that millions and millions of dollars are racked in.

The only way not to be short changed is not to risk posting credit card numbers online or any numbers that is connected to the bank account. Guard hard-earned money and be vigilant.

Why Your Business Needs a Dispute Resolution Procedure

May 14th, 2008 by admin

New employment regulations came into force in the UK in October 2004 in the form of the Employment Act 2002. This article explains the impact of these new rules on your business. It also examines how, as an employer, you can turn the new employment legislation to the advantage of your business.

In order to understand how to use the new employment regulations to your advantage, we first need to look at how the new laws differ from the old employment legislation.

In the old days, an employee might be dismissed without an appeal and the first sign of trouble for the employer wouldn’t come until the employee put in a claim for unfair dismissal.

Or an employee might have been unhappy and so decided to resign. Sometime afterwards, you as the employer could suddenly find the employee putting in a claim for constructive dismissal.

For the employer, written procedures provided a good defence but employment tribunals still made their own decisions and defending your business could cost a lot of time and money.

With all this in mind, the Government decided to do something to reduce the number of employment tribunal claims. In doing so, they ended up introducing thirteen new ways that an employee can claim against an employer at an employment tribunal!

All these new ways of claiming at an employment tribunal are based on documentation. For example, the tribunal will look at whether certain letters were written and why, or they will ask for proof of whether a meeting was held at a sensible time and place.

The new employment laws mean that if the paperwork is not right, then the employment tribunal can class the employer as guilty - without the need for a hearing!

In exchange for this, the new legislation gives employers new ways of protecting themselves against tribunal proceedings. To understand how you can protect your business, we need to take a look at the new employment regulations in more detail.

The new employment regulations state that employees can no longer claim constructive dismissal unless they can show that they have tried, and failed, to resolve the problem with their employer.

Employees can no longer claim against their employer for unfair dismissal unless they can show that they have exhausted every appeal procedure offered by their employers and still failed to resolve their differences.

However, if an employer does not have a written dispute resolution procedure then the employee can go straight to an employment tribunal and obtain an automatic award!

On that basis, it should be obvious that all employers need to issue a dispute resolution procedure to all their employees in order to avoid the risk of automatically losing at an employment tribunal.

The good news is that a dispute resolution procedure needn’t be that difficult to implement.

The most basic dispute resolution procedure is simply a structure by which an employee can register a complaint against you. This need be nothing more than a statement from you, the employer, saying “If you have a grievance or feel you have been wrongly disciplined, then put any appeal or grievance in writing to me.”

However, what if it was you who had carried out the disciplinary in the first place - and, let’s face it, in a small company this is quite likely to be the case. Would an employment tribunal consider this to be fair?

Possibly not. But all that the law actually says is that the dispute resolution procedure should be “as fair as possible”.

So, as an employer, can you make better use of the employment legislation than this? Is there an easy way to ensure that you have a dispute resolution procedure and that it will be considered fair by an employment tribunal?

The answer, fortunately, is yes. All you need to do is to arrange for an outside person or organisation to be the point of contact to whom grievances can be directed. Then just state this in your dispute resolution procedure.

Once you have done that, you are almost there. All that remains is to make sure you use all the right bits of paperwork that are required by the new employment legislation whenever you are dealing with a disciplinary matter.

This includes ensuring that any disciplinary meetings are notified to your employees in writing and that you give them at least 48 hours notice of the meeting. You also have to make sure you explain the reason for calling the disciplinary meeting and give the employee copies of any documentation that will be discussed during the meeting.

One of the easiest ways to achieve all this is to use a good quality online personnel system. Such a system will allow you to generate employment contracts for your staff online. It will include in these contracts all the details of your disciplinary procedure, along with details of a third party organisation to whom employees should address any grievances.

In the event that you need to discipline an employee, a fully-featured online personnel system will allow you to generate all the necessary letters and documents automatically, thus ensuring your business complies with the new employment legislation.

The costs of such a system are surprisingly low, especially when you compare them against the costs of having a full-time personnel department within your own organisation - something which is usually prohibitively expensive for most small businesses.

The Employee Contracts website at www.employee-contracts.co.uk gives more information on how online personnel systems work and can help you find a professional employment law consultant to offer advice on protecting your business with one of these systems.

The Rich Jer - PROS ans CONS

May 14th, 2008 by admin

This is a short review of the Rich Jerk and its Pros and Cons.
The Rich Jerk is great but there is another BETTER alternative
to Online business.

PRO

The Rich Jerk Ebook is one of the best sources of information on
how to make money on the Internet. Our Staff has reviewed
hundreds of e-products over the past 4 years. This is one of the
highest quality products we have ever come across and provides
very valuable information well worth the money. There are many
highly profitable techniques discussed in this ebook. However if
you are a novice to Internet marketing you will need to do some
additional research before you are able to apply them. One nice
thing about this ebook is that it is relatively short in length
only 47 pages. You should be able to read the entire ebook in
about 2 to 3 hours.

Who is the Rich Jerk ? His real name is Kelly Felix, he is the
27 year old founder of Credit Pro Inc. Kelly also owns and
operates guesswhatiheard.com which is a site similar to my space
and friendster. Kelly and his wife Summer run the company out of
an office in Carlsbad California. He is a self made entrepreneur
and cuts out all the BS in everything he does. We have
researched several other projects he has worked on and his style
of work has remained the same, straight to the point.

The RichJerk.com is not the first profitable clickbank web site
Kelly Felix has owned. In June 2005 he sold another one of his
web sites that used clickbank, this site which had recorded
profits of $55,000 per month sold for $379,000. This website was
sold on Ebay.

One of the more interesting techniques discussed in this ebook
is that of being a traffic middle man, generating profits with
Google Adsense. The basis of this is purchasing cheap pay per
click traffic from smaller PPC search engines and then showing
your visitors relevant Google Adsense ads. Every time someone
clicks on one of the Adsense ads you make money. To understand
this technique completely you will have to read chapter 2 of the
rich jerk.

The Rich Jerk also provides a quality list of wholesale
suppliers for those people interested in selling on ebay. We
have reviewed hundreds of wholesale supply lists and his list
rivals many of the top wholesale supply list’s being sold for
$50.00. Now while the list is relatively short the suppliers
listed are top quality. When dealing with wholesale supply
list’s a quality list is much more important than quantity. For

CON

The Rich Jerk is a bestselling ebook written by an anonymous
millionaire who reveals the secrets he or she used to amass a
fortune. It is not a step-by-step guide to making money, but
rather a book of ideas. Any one of the ideas, if applied
correctly, could make you a lot of money.I have no clue who the
Rich Jerk is, and frankly, I don’t care. The information in the
book was solid and original, and after reading it just once, I
got some pretty good ideas of new ways to make money online.
Some of the topics covered in the book are: Making money with
affiliate programs Making money with Adwords/Adsense E-currency
Trading HYIPs Selling on Ebay Search Engine Optimization Sales
lettersOn the whole, I thought this was an excellent book
because it covered so many different topics, was easy to read,
and refreshingly short (just 47 pages). But don’t let the length
fool you into thinking there is not much information. The Rich
Jerk had better content that most other ebooks I have read,
which were typically much longer and filled with a lot of
fluff.I recommend the Rich Jerk to: Anyone who wants to start an
online business, but is not sure which opportunity to pursue
People who already have a business, but want some fresh ideas on
marketing and making more money with their sites. HOWEVER, If
you are visiting this website, most likely you made a search in
Google or Yahoo about the Rich Jerk or about Making Money
Online. The Rich Jerk may have a strangely appealing Sales
Pitch, but his ebook is overpriced at $47.00 I don’t believe
it’s right to charge that much for this type of information. So,
Holly Mann wrote her own ebook about how to make money online.
She is selling it at such a low price of $14.95 because she
wants it to be affordable for the average person. The major
difference between her ebook and the Rich Jerk’s ebook is in the
PRICE. And her ebook offers MORE ways to start making money
right NOW WITHOUT startup money to invest. Her ebook is not
written in such a style that information is thrown out there, so
you can figure it all out by yourself. Every Single
Profit-Building Technique and Strategy is broken-down so you can
understand not only what to do, but how to do it and how to
profit from it the most. You shouldn’t have to pay $97 or even
$47 to make a new millionaire richer. For HOLLY’s BOOK for only
$14.95 and to get free gifts as well go to the following URL:
