Hayling - the Charm of the Southerly English Sea-coast

September 18th, 2009 by admin

The town of Hayling Island contains the hamlets of East and West Hayling and lies within the Portsmouth and S.E. Hampshire region.

Hayling Island had 2 churches, St Peters, dating from the 12th century and St Marys, dating from the 13th century.

Hayling Island is very flat, and often threatened with flooding from the sea.

Salt production was an industry on the island from the 11th century (the Domesday Book recorded a saltpan on the island for this purpose) until the late 19th century. At the northwest corner of the island lies the Hayling Oysterbeds Local Nature Reserve.

A small passenger ferry links up Hayling Island to the neighbouring island of Portsea where the city of Portsmouth is located.

All courses are taken on Kite beach, Hayling Island which is one of the most favorite and optimum locations in the UK to learn and practice the sport.

Hayling Island is the perfect position to enjoy a first class beach.

Hayling Island had a great sandy beach until recent years when it was manually filled with stones to stop it from washing away.

If you could make the decision to take a holiday and come to Hayling island then a wonderful place to dwell would be Cockle Warren Cottage Hotel - it is pretty much on the sea front and you will be enclosed in the enamor of the cottage with the warm sea breeze tapping on your bedchamber window.
